The Process of Making a Sculpture

Initial SandingInitial Sanding

Once the main part is completed, the initial sanding job starts. Many levels of sanding takes place until the artist is happy of the finishing

The sculpture is then heated and polish is then applied. This is done while hot to ensure that the polish penetrates the pores and stays embedded in the sculpture.

The sculpture is then cooled down and it is then polished by hand. Many layers of polish is applied until the desired shine is acquired.

Statues can have opaque, shiny or raw finish. The stone can be white, black, gray or redish.
