Our Story

Welcome to the Little Piece of Africa and stonehouse berlin website.

Since 1997, Little Piece of Africa has supplied high quality stone sculptures to shops and galleries in many countries.

Our company specialises in the stone art of the Shona people of Zimbabwe; sculpture sizes range from 10cms to 2 metres with styles representing animals, male and female busts and torsos, stylised and abstract creations.

Our business is based on high ethics and honesty for clients and sculptors alike.

In December 2006, Sandie and Gunnar Kauffmann travelled to Capetown from Berlin looking specifically for Shona stone sculptures. We met Daniel Mokwena at Red Hill Farm and after getting to know one another and purchasing a number of sculptures, we all decided to work together to set up a gallery in Berlin.

The stonehouse berlin gallery opened on 8th December 2007 and is supported by various other exhibitions throughout Germany.

We are still working on the website and constantly updating it. As the artists we represent come mainly from Zimbabwe, it is quite difficult, in view of the current political situation to obtain all the relevant information as quickly as we would like!
